The original school buildings dated from 1977 with a number of additions over the years, and the site needed rationalisation and refurbishment. The new CLT/Glulam framed extension provides 4 new classrooms, hygiene room, WCs and a library and a further extension to the Post-16 annexe provides a hygiene room and accessible WC facilities. The new south-facing classrooms are naturally ventilated with an external canopy to address solar gain, with a mix of mechanical and natural ventilation elsewhere in the buildings. The M&E installation focuses on high reliability, low maintenance, and low energy consumption throughout the building.
External works include the landscaping of car parking spaces, provision of cycle parking, and the installation of ramps. Terraces, shaded play areas and quiet spaces have also been incorporated in the landscape design.
