Design Process

Prior to a unit going into manufacture, the detailed specification of that unit needs to be established and agreed by the client. Materials such as external finishes, sanitaryware, windows and doors need to be specified in order that the factory is able to include fixing details and sizes on its design drawings.  Once all the details have been collated, the building will be placed into production - the entire process from concept to erection will take approximately 3 months.

It is preferable that the ABD Builders team are involved with the project prior to it being submitted for planning permission.

By being able to check the proposed design at this stage it gives the company the ability to ensure that the it falls within the modular measurements preferred by the factory.  This enables the cost of manufacturing to be as low as possible and negates the need for having to design-in additional timber members.

It is not unusual for the company’s team to be involved in the design of a project prior to planning.

Once the planners have agreed in principle that a design is acceptable it enables the detailed design to progress at an early stage, the consequence being; that when planning is formally granted the majority of the design work is complete and the building ready to go into manufacture.

ABD Builders have in an house sustainability team that includes accredited SAP, Code for Sustainable Homes and PassivHaus ssessors.  Consequently the company is able to provide effective design information based on the most cost effective sustainability measures available.
