Manhood Community College is now an academy in the public sector and as such is independent of the Local Authority. The school was once the second smallest high school in West Sussex. It is now known as The Academy, Selsey.
In addition to the sports hall there is a full attached changing village and ancillary storage space.
The sports hall is of steel frame construction with a profiled steel roof with a mixture of brickwork elevations and steel sheet cladding.
